Leito: ‘Trip to Japan is unnecessary’

Zita Jesus LeitoWILLEMSTAD – One hundred thousand guilders for a trip to Japan to honor the Curacao baseball player, Wladimir ‘Coco’ Balentien, is too much and can be used for more important and better things. This is according to PAR MP Zita Jesus-Leito.

Leito believes that the Minister Stanley Palm’s trip to Japan is unnecessary since Coco will come to Curacao in November. Minister Palm of Economic Development and Tourism stated that he will take a delegation to Japan to honor Coco and to promote Curacao.

Leito indicates that the Minister can honor Coco in every possible way when he’s on the island. Leito is also very proud of our baseball player who broke the Japanese record for home runs in one single season.

The MP does not understand what Minister Palm will do in Japan and what added value this will have for the economy of Curacao. If her questions in Parliament will stop this trip, she couldn’t say. There is also the possibility to hold the Government accountable, but it remains unclear if the MP will do that in Parliament.
