Marvelyne Wiels stays as Minister Plenipotentiary in The Hague

Marvelyne WielsWILLEMSTAD - Marvelyne Wiels survived a motion in Parliament against her. The motion to dismiss her as Minister Plenipotentiary was rejected with 11 against and 8 for.

Amerigo Thode (MFK) surprised during the debate when he talked about the dismissal of the press officer of the Curaçao House. When she did not accept her resignation, Wiels sent her a letter in which she imposed that dismissal on behalf of the government of Curacao. Thode wanted to know how that was possible. “This is against the law!” Thode declared.

After a fierce opening by independent parliamentarian Omayra Leeflang, Jacinta Scoop-Constancia (MFK) showed herself equally disposed. The parliament would lose credibility if Marvelyne Wiels stays in the Curacao House. Those who came afterwards were much less fierce.

Alex Rosaria

PAIS leader Alex Rosaria, a coalition partner of Pueblo Soberano, showed himself as much more conservative. The documents were not sent simultaneously to all members of Parliament. "You have the entire file. If Leeflang comes with more, it is not mine. Check your facts before you accuse me,” replied Dick Drayer via SMS to Rosaria. Drayer then placed his message on Twitter. Humphrey Davelaar (PNP) called on Christian forgiveness. Much doesn’t attach much value to the news about the beleaguered Minister Plenipotentiary, he announced.
