Measures in Education are definitely off the table

SitekWILLEMSTAD – The austerity measures in the education sector announced by the Minister of Education, Irene Dick are definitely off the table. This was announced by the Government of Curacao. Prime Minister Ivar Asjes said that he was shocked by the opposition against these measures.

The teachers were on strike and schools in Curacao were desolated for two days. The teachers were supported by their union Sitek. Chairman of the Union, Dario “Lio” Plantijn thanked all those who participated during the strike and congratulated them on the results.

In April, Cabinet Asjes decided to take drastic measures, but has now backed down. How the cuts will be achieved now is not disclosed. Also, the parliament has been unable to voice their opinion on the proposed measures.
