Minister Josepha on a collision course with Government Officials

Minister JosephaWILLEMSTAD – Sherwin Josepha, Minister of Social Development, Labour and Welfare has problems with the Managers of his Ministry. In a letter of April 17 of this year, the managers complained about the fact that four experienced employees who could be essential for the Labour sector were not employed. This is despite a positive recommendation by the Department of Administration, Planning and Services, which is responsible for hiring public employees. The whole hiring of public employees issue was curtailed by the designation of the Kingdom Council of Ministers.

According to the Government Officials, the only thing that Minister Josepha had to do was sent a recommendation to the Council of Ministers and the Governor but he ignored the advice given by them to hire these four professionals. The new employees’ tasks include the processing of permits for foreign workers including for an important project at the oil refinery.
