Minister of Health: “Discussion about euthanasia and abortion”

Suzy-Romer-CameliaWILLEMSTAD - The debate about euthanasia and abortion has been delayed for a long time in Curaçao. The Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Suzanne Camelia-Römer believes that the government should set the framework, but it is still too early to impose this by law.

According to the Minister, the discussion about euthanasia and abortion involves intense emotions but must be discussed.

Camelia-Römer wants to finish other priorities, including Hospital Nobo Otrobanda, and once that is finished, there's room for other things.

As is well known, euthanasia and abortion occur in Curaçao, but it is not regulated in any way. Whether it is to be statutory, the Minister does not want to say, but she thinks it must be testable and certain criteria should be met. The Minister spoke about this during the weekly press conference of the Council of Ministers.
