Schermafbeelding-2014-12-23-om-13.52.18WILLEMSTAD - The Chinese Consul General in Curacao calls the police to do all in their power to tackle violent muggers. This call is following the death of a 30-year-old Chinese supermarket owner that was the victim of a robbery last Sunday. In just the past two weeks, the Chinese community was victim of five very violent robberies. The victims, including children, were shot at, beaten, threatened or tied.

Consul General Chen Qiman has asked the Minister of Justice to do more to catch the perpetrators. According to her, new victims can be averted this way.

The Chinese people in Curaçao are relatively often victims of violence by robbers. Many small supermarkets are owned by Chinese. The Consul General pointed today to the band that has existed for over a hundred years of Chinese people on the island. She hopes that China will do more business with Curaçao and more tourists from China will visit the island.
