More streetlights in Curaçao

BalbordaWILLEMSTAD – Minister Earl Balborda and his ministry together with Aqualectra have begun with the maintenance of street lighting. 12 percent (3853) of 33 thousand lampposts on Curaçao does not appear to function optimally. According to a research done by Aqualectra in collaboration with students from the University of Curaçao (UoC).

In the research they look at the places where there is (no) light, or places where the light is constantly on and the places where the lights do not work. In addition to the repair, extra lighting will also be installed.

There are 86 streetlights on the Schottegatweg (ring road) that needs to be fixed. In Janwe, Weg naar Fuik, Brievengat and Mahaai it’s about 73, 147, 264 and 170 streetlights respectively. The Caracasbaaiweg (91), Montaña (261) and West Point (91). These areas will be addressed before the end of the year. It is expected that the project will be completed in mid-2015.
