Motion of no confidence against Francisca passed by a majority in Parliament

Jean Marie FranciscaWILLEMSTAD – The majority in Parliament voted and passed a motion of no confidence against the Minister of Labor, Social Development and Welfare, Mrs. Jean-Marie Francisca. This means that Minister Francisca must turn in her resignation at the Governor of Curacao since she does not have the support of the majority in Parliament. Without this support she can no longer lead her Ministry.

The parliamentary meeting was called at the request of the Pueblo Soberano faction. The Minister was not invited to attend the meeting, but she was present to defend her policy and her way of handling her Ministry. However, the coalition members did not give her the opportunity to speak.

During the vote, the opposition party MFK left the meeting. They indicated that they don’t agree with the manner in which the Minister’s own party dealt with her. Afterwards other members of the opposition also left the meeting.
