NAPB: ‘Civil Servants must hand in quite a bit’

Ronaldo AbrahamWILLEMSTAD - The board of the National General Police Bond (NAPB) is currently in a meeting with its members on the measures Minister Etienne van der Horst (Government Policy) wishes to implement. The measures affect the secondary conditions. According to union leader Ronaldo Abraham civil servants ‘time and again fall victim to budget cuts because of the bad policies of the government.’

“Last Tuesday we heard during the central committee of Parliament from Minister Van der Horst what measures will be implemented,” said Abraham. “The NAPB board has decided to call a general membership meeting to inform the members. We also want the members to know how we can represent their interests.”

There will be about ten measures. The measures with the most impact are discontinuing the periodic increase of salary, stopping indexing, halving the holiday allowance and shortening the rights to the pension agreement. "That means that officials must hand in a substantial part of their rights,” said Abrahams.
