Navarro: Wernet will not be replaced despite allegations SAP

Nelson NavarroWILLEMSTAD - Chief of Police, Marlon Wernet will not be replaced. That is what Minister of Justice, Nelson Navarro said during the weekly Council of Minister’s press conference. The police unions submitted an objection against Wernet and urged the Minister to dismiss him as Chief of Police.

The Minister said that he won’t even think about dismissing Wernet, but he was very critical about the performance of the police union SAP. According to the Minister, the union tried to damage the Chief’s reputation by submitting false reports against him at the Public Prosecution.

The Minister admits that there must be some changes in the police force, but not in the way that SAP wants and especially not the way they go about it. Navarro also said that there are three unions representing the interests of the police, which is a clear sign of division among the police. These three unions are the SAP, ABVO and the NAPB.
