New hospital on same location as old one

HospitalWILLEMSTAD – With eleven for and ten against, the Curacao Parliament voted in favor of the new hospital being built on the same site as the old one. This motion was submitted by the coalition partners as previously agreed on. The outgoing government did not express its own views and preferences about a new location. Premier Daniel Hodge said the decision on the location of the new hospital was up to the Parliament and would fully support a motion thereon. Hodge did an outstanding request to the vote on the motion. He wanted to add a point, where the current government is safeguarded from possible future claims. His request was not granted.

Pueblo Soberano leader Helmin Wiels expressed yesterday during the public meeting again fierce criticism towards the government of former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte on how they have tackled the process of the construction of the new hospital. According to Wiels the deal that the government Schotte had made on the construction smells like rotten fish. Even his colleague and Member of Parliament Ivar Asjes found that there was a strange smell in the case.
