No investigation in Student Loan Foundation

BitorinaWILLEMSTAD – There will be no investigation into how the Student Loan Foundation (SSC) had spent the ten million guilders it was granted. This money was for the purpose of funding the free education proposed by the political party, Pueblo Soberano (PS) last year.

A motion signed by the parties PAR, MFK and MAN for the government’s accountants bureau to investigate was rejected by the majority in Parliament. Member of Parliament for PAR, Omayra Leeflang said that she will now file a complaint with the local police’s investigation department.

According to the Minister of Education, Rubia Betorina, the investigation is not necessary because there is no suspicion of abuse or corruption at the SSC. The Minister could not specify how free education will be funded for the school year 2013/2014.
