Ombudsman in no way involved with interim government

WILLEMSTAD - Ombudsman Alba Martijn is in no way involved in the formation of an interim government for Curaçao, Martijn writes in an information bulletin. In recent days, several names of people who would take office as a minister in the interim government were mentioned.

Gregory Damoen has now distant himself from the process and Martijn dissociates herself from the whole situation. She said never to have been approached to participate and has never been involved in the formation of an interim government, according to Ursula.

According Martijn is the ombudsman's office is incompatible with carrying out political activities. The nature of the work means that the Ombudsman must be independent at all times of the government so it can function. Martijn takes away all the media coverage on this and expressly disclaims all ties with any political party or organization. The Ombudsman hopes that the information bulletin can clarify her position.
