PAR will cooperate to appoint Wiels’ successor in Parliament
WILLEMSTAD – Today Wiels’ successor, Mrs. Winifred “Winnie” Raveneau, will be appointed member of Parliament for the political party Pueblo Soberano. The only problem is that the coalition parties do not have enough seats to appoint her as a member of Parliament. Since the death of Helmin Wiels, there is a deadlock in Parliament since both the coalition and opposition have 10 seats each.
Leader of the opposition party PAR, Zita Jesus-Leito said that her will cooperate with the coalition to form a quorum to handle Mrs. Raveneau’s credentials. “If her credentials are in order than we will approve them and call Mrs. Raveneau welcome as a member of Parliament. We wish her a very positive and productive term in Parliament for the benefit of Curacao,” Par leader stated.
