Parliament allocates quarter million guilders for social objectives

Offices of ParliamentWILLEMSTAD - By means of an amendment, the Parliament of Curaçao have allocated 250,000 guilders of their own budget for 2019 for the Parliament to make them available for social objectives.

It is an initiative of the members of the coalition parties PAR and MAN. It concerns money for the development of sport in Curaçao and a project of the Ministry of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare to help people living below the poverty line in small repair work.

The Members of Parliament Rozendal, McWilliam, Plet, Hato, Cleopa (from MAN), El Ayoubi, Seferina, Millerson, Walroud and Obispo (from PAR) are of the opinion that every person has the right to a dignified existence, according to the explanation. This means that everyone must have at least the minimum to be able to live in a house in as dignified and comfortable a way as possible.
