Parliament will receive quarterly progress update on new hospital

New HospitalWILLEMSTAD – The Parliament of Curacao unanimously adopted a motion to ensure that they would be informed about the progress of the construction of the new hospital. Parliament will receive this information every quarter. The motion was adopted with 14 votes for and 3 against.

Members of Parliament also want the Minister of Health, Dr. Ben Whiteman to inform the people about the progress. According to Dr. Whiteman, it will take about 2.5 years to build the hospital. Prime Minister Ivar Asjes indicated that construction will commence at the end of this year.

As was already announced, the hospital will be built in the area of Otrabanda right next to the old hospital.

Parliament will receive its first update in January 2014.
