Plasterk and Hodge talks about current developments

Minister PlasterkWILLEMSTAD – Prime Minister of Curacao Daniel Hodge paid a visit to the Minister of Kingdom Relations Ronald Plasterk in the Netherlands. The Prime Minister was accompanied by, among others, the Minister of Economic Development, Steven Martina and the Minister Plenipotentiary Roy Pieters.

Topics that were discussed during the meeting included the financial situation of the island, the Central Bank and the cooperation programs within the Kingdom. About the financial state of affairs, Prime Minister Hodge included an update on the basic health insurance and disability insurance which are seeing radical changes.

Premier Hodge indicated that the actions of the Transitional Government are largely on track with the planning. On the Central Bank Hodge said that the Government will evaluate the monetary union between Curaçao and Sint Maarten as a result of the experiences of the past two years. Decisions on the future of the Central Bank are still not on the agenda.
