PNP commissions its own minister to change decision on carnival

BalbordaWILLEMSTAD - The PNP wants carnival to still go through the Roodeweg. The leader of the coalition party, Humphrey Davelaar commissioned its own minister to ensure that the route is safe for the carnival celebrations next year.

Earlier, the Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning, Earl Balborda announced that the carnival route will be changed, because Roodeweg, which is part of the main road in Otrabanda would be too dangerous for the people standing on the side of the road watching the parade.

According to the members of the coalition party, the route should be made safe before the parades. Roofs, balconies and other things should be repaired so the parade can still go through Roodeweg. This will cost the government about 500.000 guilders (about 300.000 dollars). The party did not indicate where the money will come from for this project.
