Prime Minister Schotte will not respond to motions of no confidence

WILLEMSTAD - The government does not respond to the motions of no confidence as adopted by the "new" parliament. This according to demissionary Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte in a national televised speech. Furthermore Schotte called the population to cooperate.

Schotte stressed that the motions according to him, however, have no legal basis. He stated that the upcoming parliamentary elections of October 19, must be the solution to the existing divisions. The prime minister called on the population to cooperate. Curacao is experiencing turbulent political times, the Prime Minister recognizes this. "We are more divided than ever. But we must work together for a better future. "

Minister Liesbeth Spies (Kingdom Relations) mentions the acts of parliament 'democracy unworthy. "Since the  resigning of the government, the parliament has not met once," said Spies. The minister keeps all 21 members of Parliament responsible. "It is inconceivable that a parliament manifests itself in this way. It's really a shame towards the people. "
