PS continues for an independent Curacao

Pueblo SoberanoWILLEMSTAD - An independent Curacao remains the ultimate goal of ruling party Pueblo soberano (PS). This was decided by the members at a general meeting last Saturday. According to the party chairman, Edward Joseph members have confirmed and ratified the purpose of the party, namely the independence of Curacao.

According to Joseph, there has been no discussion within the party about the direction the party should sail.

This subject has been debated outside the party, PS Chairman indicated.

The party was criticized mostly by political opponents saying that they have abandoned the course of the Pueblo Soberano and especially its founder and first political leader Helmin Wiels, who was assassinated on May 5 of last year. This is not so, Joseph reiterated.

"For us this has never been a point of discussion. It's something we as a party still stands for. We have just ratified the mission of the party again. How will we achieve this? That's what we want to do in accordance with the statutes of the party and what our party founder and leader Helmin Wiels has always declared”

Wiels was always for an independent Curaçao, but this can only be achieved if the people of Curaçao are sufficiently developed so that the nation can stand on its own.
