‘Report does not exist’

Curacao hospitalWILLEMSTAD – According to the Association of Medical Specialists Curaçao (VMSC), the Dutch Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport Edith Schippers referred to a report by the Inspectorate of Health that does not exist. The only report that the Dutch Inspectorate has ever made, comes from 2005.

The recommendations and suggestions for improvement from that report were simply addressed by the Curaçao General Hospital (Sehos) and executed. The VMSC is angry because this is already the second time in two years that Schippers makes this mistake.

The negative statements made by the minister about the quality of health care in Curacao according to the VMSC are incorrect and unsubstantiated.

“We cannot believe that she always comes with this kind of nonsense. It does seem that she has malicious intents or that the staff at the Dutch Ministry of Health are so incompetent that the people in The Hague must be worried about the health care policy makers in the Netherlands,” Nena Abbad of the VMSC said.
