Retirement age from 60 to 65

Offices of ParliamentWILLEMSTAD – Last night, with 18 votes in favor and 3 against, Parliament agreed on the Government’s proposal to change the retirement age from 60 to 65 years old. Only the political party PAR voted against this proposal. Furthermore the Parliament has accepted an amendment which includes those that are 59 years old in the transitional phase. Those that are 57, 58 and 59 now can retire between 60 and 65 but will lose 6% of the pension each year if they retire before they are 65.

The retirement premium was also increased from 13 to 15% and this 2% will be paid by the employer. The salary border in which a person is eligible for retirement insurance went from 93.000 guilders to 100.000 guilders. In the future, the pension  will only be adapted if the economy knows a real growth. This adopted proposal will become law this coming Friday.
