Schotte wants investigation on Jardim’s actions

Gerrit SchotteWILLEMSTAD - The MFK representatives in Parliament wants the Public Prosecutor (OM) to conduct an investigation into the actions of Minister Jose Jardim. Minister Jardim was appointed by the Independent Member of Parliament, Glenn Sulvaran. MFK wants an investigation on the provision of subsidy to the Fondo pa Deporte i Responsabilidat Sosial (Fund sports and social responsibility, FDRS).

The fraction and political leader of the MFK, Gerrit Schotte, believes that in this case Jardim committed a malfeasance. Schotte and MFK are furious about Jardim actions in the FDRS case. They note that the same minister, who has called for a civil survey about former ministers who violated laws, now he is violating laws as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

The MFK leader points to the fact that a minister can be convicted, if he co - sign a national decree or ministerial order with the knowledge that this is violating the law, to a term of imprisonment not exceeding three years. The MFK believes that the provision of subsidy to FDRS is against the law. The application was submitted too late, while relevant documents were missing.

In a public meeting last week Jardim said that the request has been granted in accordance with the subsidy policy adopted by the government. The MFK was not impressed by the statement of the Minister and stated that the Public Prosecutor should investigate the role of the Minister of Finance in this case.

If it turns out that this minister acted against the law, then he should be prosecuted. This also applies to officials who are guilty of crimes, Schotte indicated.
