Sedreko stops, Asjes furious

Premier AsjesWILLEMSTAD – Sports Foundation Sedreko quits for the lack of money. According to the interim director of the public foundation, the government is trying to boycott them. Premier Ivar Asjes responds with a counterattack.

“The Minister of Sports’ boycott against the foundation has ensured that we are now without money to perform our duties,” Cijntje said. According to him, for months the government has ignored any request from them to meet and discuss the situation. Earlier Asjes had promised that all employees would go to the new sports institute. However, that agreement was never put in black and white, which, according to Cijntje, demotivates the staff. The government employee’s trade union ABVO has been trying to deal with this issue, but so far without success.

The Prime Minister decided to answer right away. “It is sad to note that the interim director and senior management of Sedreko have nothing of a sportsman in their character, or sports in general.” Sedreko threatens to stop the service to the sport community. They also violated thereby the subsidy ordinance, which compels the government to immediately stop all funds to the organization. With this money the new foundation can be subsidized.

According to previous plans, Sedreko and the new sports organization Fundashon Fasidilatnan Deportivo (FFDK) were supposed to merge into a new organization. Currently, a committee headed by Gabi da Costa Gomez is working on getting the new organization off the ground. The FFDK is working together with the committee headed by Da Costa Gomez. Asjes regrets the lack of loyalty on Sedreko’s part.
