Sehos disagree with comments Dutch Minister of Health

SchippersWILLEMSTAD - The St. Elisabeth Hospital (Sehos) has already done much to improve the quality of medical care in recent years. This is according to the Board of Directors in response to the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee for Kingdom Relations last Thursday where parties spoke about health care in the Caribbean Netherlands (Bonaire, Sin Eustatius and Saba).

The Dutch Health Minister Edith Schippers said, during this meeting, that the Netherlands will not send patients from these islands to Sehos, because “health care issues have only deteriorated in recent years”. The Board of Directors disagrees and indicated that the Dutch Minister bases her decision on a report, which was published at least six years ago.

“The quality of health care that we offer now is so much better compared to what is indicated in that report,” one of the board members said. There are already several improvements made and the construction of the new hospital in Otrabanda will bring the quality to an even higher level.
