SITEK will not give up achievements

SitekWILLEMSTAD - The teachers' union calls on all unions for a national strike on Wednesday December 11. SITEK refuses to give up all their work benefits they have worked so hard for during the years. The government plans to cut in wage indexation and holiday pay. They also plan to increase the retirement age. This all can go to the trash, according to a SITEK representative.

The strike will start at 8 in the morning. SITEK leader, Darius Plantijn, warns all parents that there will be no teachers present at school during the strike. He asks all parents to keep them at home or make arrangements for their care on that day.

According to Minister Etienne van der Horst a strike would be quite premature. The SITEK wants the Minister to submit the financial statements of 2012.

Both parties have been in meetings all day today but no positive result as yet.
