Special education wants equal treatment

SchoolWILLEMSTAD - The government's subsidy for special education is low. So low that schools cannot provide a good education. That says the board of Protestant schools, the VPCO.

They also feel disadvantaged because public schools get around the law for extra financial resources to survive. VPCO has, therefore, started a lawsuit with the aim to get equal treatment.

The Protestant schools are thinking of having another 30 million guilders from the government. Since the introduction of free education, the VPCO says they have not been able to make it financially. They cannot ask the parents of the students for a financial contribution.
