Supervisory Board orders audit at UTS

UTS_logoWILLEMSTAD – The Supervisory Board of the telecommunication company UTS agreed on an audit of the public company. The Board also agreed that one of their members should coordinate the audit. This audit will be done by an external auditor.

The Board appointed Mrs. Marisella Smith-Pieternella to head the auditing process. She is considered the most knowledgeable in the field of auditing. It is calculated that the auditing process will take about 6 to 8 weeks. Some consider this too long for an audit.

The Board is also working on the terms of reference (TOR) for the audit. It’s good to mention that both the TOR and the process of finding an external auditor are in the hands of the shareholder, which is the government of Curacao and Sint Maarten. Curacao is represented by Minister Earl Balborda.

It’s the fourth time in three years that there will be an audit the national telecommunication company.
