Supreme Electoral Council

WILLEMSTAD - Minister of Public Services, Mr. Carlos Trinidad, announced the new members for the Supreme Electoral Council. This has been done according to the law.  He introduced the new members during a press conference which took place at the Civil Registrar's Office (Kranshi), due to the coming elections scheduled for October 19, 2012.

On August 31,  2012 the candidates for this election will be postulated.  On September 8 and 9, 2012 the introductory elections will take place. The supreme council made it clear that the new candidates or political parties without representations in the Parliament  will require 1% of valid votes, in support, of the last parliament election.

The supreme council did also announce that Everybody who lives in Curacao and also have the Dutch nationality and did reach their legitimate age to vote 18 years old will have the right to vote in the coming elections. They are also looking for the possibility to make it easier for those with a physical disability to vote privately.
