Technical audit safety oil refinery

Oil RefineryWILLEMSTAD - The government requested a technical audit at the oil refinery. Two experts from the Rotterdam Rijnmond Safety Region are on the island. They will do a physical analysis and test of the different installations over the next three weeks. In addition, they analyze data and information management. Finally, they will speak with various department heads. Lesley Fer, the coordinator of the Risk and Disaster Team Curaçao, was appointed to supervise the audit. Together with the owner of the refinery, Refineria di Kòrsou, they supervise the audit. This must yield recommendations in a final report that will be offered to the government.

The result of the technical audit must give good insight into the safety of the installations and systems on the oil refinery site.

The technical audit is held in response to the conclusions in the E & D Technologies Texas report. This report was drawn up after the Isla fire of May last year. The audit also fits in the expansion of the disaster plan of Curaçao.
