The Dutch ‘Rijkswaterstaat’ to provide assistance with oil spills on all islands

Oil spillTHE HAGUE - The ‘Rijkswaterstaat’ as part of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment has as its main role the practical execution of the public works and water management, including the construction and maintenance of waterways and roads, and flood protection and prevention in the Netherlands.

This important organization will now help the autonomous Dutch Caribbean countries, Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten, to combat larger oil pollution and maritime disasters. They will do this from the branch offices located in the BES islands (Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba).

Next summer, the oil control equipment on Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba will be further expanded. This can be also used for the other Dutch Caribbean islands.
