The Netherlands: Monasch resigns from PvdA, coalition loses majority
THE HAGUE - Jacques Monasch resignsf from the Dutch Labour Party (PvdA). He will no longer be part of the party’s faction in parliament. Monasch can no longer find himself in the course the party is taking. He will remain for the time being an independent member of parliament.
Now with the departure of Monasch, the coalition of VVD and PvdA no longer has the majority in parliament. The parties now have together 75 seats, exactly half.
Earlier today it was announced that he did not participate in the party leader election.
