Transparency International presented its preliminary findings to the Government

TI_1WILLEMSTAD – On Friday April 26, Transparency International (TI) gave a presentation to the Hodge Cabinet during an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers. The delegation presented its preliminary findings of their research on corruption in Curacao.

Mid last year, TI initiated a so called National Integrity System (NIS) assessment requested by the Government of Curacao. TI worked with a local team on this research. During this research TI spoke with different stakeholders in the public,, social and economic sector of Curacao.

In a NIS assessment TI evaluates the most important institutes and stakeholders which forms a state. This includes parts of the government, the media, public, private and social sector. Objective of this research is to identify risk factors which leads to TIcorruption in a country. It also looks for solutions to limit this risk in short, medium and long term.
