Update: Case Magnus – First day in court

SecurityWILLEMSTAD – Arrival suspects.

This morning just after nine o'clock the four suspects arrived, under heavy security, at the courthouse. This includes Elvis 'Monster' Kuwas, who arrived in Curaçao last weekend by plane along with the State Police.

Request for postponement of Fonseca’s case

The prosecution has asked for a postponement until Thursday in the case against Burney 'Nini' Fonseca. Fonseca would have paid to the perpetrators and arranged some of the logistics for the murder of Helmin Wiels. He was also in charge of payment.

Request for no broadcast

The radio broadcast of the case was silent for a while. The lawyers of the defendants did not want the case to be broadcasted via radio. Meanwhile, the court has given permission and the broadcast resumed. Because of the many attention to the case and because of the security related to the suspects and only relatives of the late Helmin Wiels were admitted in the courtroom. Among them is Helmin's sister, Minister Plenipotentiary Marvelyne Wiels.

‘Monster’ wants fair trial

When asked by the judge how the defendants and their lawyers see the progress of the case, Elvis 'Monster' Kuwas first opened his mouth. In Dutch, he said that he would like to have a fair trial. Currently, the case is suspended for deliberation.

Lunch break

The hearing of the case against Burney "Nini" Fonseca has been moved to Thursday as requested by the Public Prosecutor. Carlos and Peter D'Angelo Damascus will be heard on Wednesday.

After the lunch break, the court will hear the case against Elvis 'Monster' Kuwas.
