Wilsoe: ‘Free education will become law’

wilsoeWILLEMSTAD – Free education will become law or we will pull the plug on the government. This is according to Member of Parliament for the Pueblo Soberano (PS), Elmer Wilsoe. Wilsoe was also the Minister of Justice during the Cabinet Schotte.

“We will have free education and I don’t want to hear that there is no money for this project,” Wilsoe said. It’s the second year that free education is being applied, which is now under the responsibility of the Foundation for Education Financing.

Wilsoe indicated that the UNICEF report stated that there are problems with the Curacao youth. Most of these children and teenagers come from marginal neighborhoods. “As Curacaoans, the government has turned its back on them. Most of these youths are drop outs. The life these kids have at home and in their neighborhood reflects at school,” Wilsoe expressed.

“To change this we must start with the families, the neighborhoods and schools. We must create places where these youths can recreate themselves in a good environment. I don’t want to hear that there is no money for this. If we can pay 200 guilders per person per day, we can invest in our youth,” Wilsoe declared.
