Ys: “Wait for procedure dismissal Tromp before appointing a new Central Bank President”

Etienne-YsWILLEMSTAD - For the moment, there will be no search for a new candidate for the function of President of the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten (CBCS). “We are awaiting the process to dismiss the current President Emsley Tromp and what the government of both islands will do with the lawsuit,” said the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the CBCS Etienne Ys.

The costs of a dismissal procedure with all fees for which Tromp is entitled to and legal costs for the court case do not weigh against the reputation of the Central Bank and the costs to maintain him on that post.

Ys believes that it is important for the financial institution on the island to meet the highest international standards. “The existence of a Central Bank is important for the international and local financial sector,” said Ys. As is already known, Emsley Tromp has been under investigation for tax fraud since last year.
