Curaçao Named Guest of Honor at 2025 Caribbean Festival in Cuba

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao will take center stage as the official Guest of Honor at the 44th edition of the Festival del Caribe, also known as the Festival of Fire, to be held from July 3 to 9, 2025, in Santiago de Cuba. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (ESKD), which is coordinating the island’s official participation.

This prestigious invitation means that Curaçao’s cultural identity, history, and artistic expressions will be the central focus of one of the Caribbean's most important cultural festivals. The Festival del Caribe celebrates Afro-Caribbean and Indigenous arts, culture, and spirituality, and Curaçao’s selection as Guest of Honor highlights the island’s historical, cultural, and social ties with Cuba.

Strengthening Regional Cultural Ties

Curaçao’s participation in the 2025 Festival del Caribe offers a powerful opportunity to strengthen cultural collaboration with Cuba and showcase the island’s vibrant artistic scene to the wider Caribbean. Through performances, workshops, and knowledge exchange, the festival will help reinforce Curaçao’s standing as a key cultural player in the region.
