WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçaosch Museum will host a benefit evening on Saturday, November 15, to raise funds for the restoration of its historic building located on Van Leeuwenhoekstraat.
The museum, which originally opened in 1853 as a military hospital, is in urgent need of extensive renovation to preserve its architectural and cultural heritage. The fundraising event will be hosted by well-known comedian and presenter Jörgen Raymann and marks the highlight of a broader campaign aimed at revitalizing Curaçao’s oldest museum.
Artist Talk Tonight
Ahead of the benefit event, the Instituto Buena Bista (IBB) and the Curaçaosch Museum are jointly organizing an Artist Talk this evening with visual artist Yaïr Callender, who recently completed his residency at IBB. The talk begins at 7:00 p.m.
Callender is celebrated for his sculptures and installations that explore themes of community, spirituality, and shared history. During the discussion, he will reflect on his creative process and his recent artistic work on Curaçao, where architecture, symbolism, and identity intersect.
Through its artist residency program, IBB provides opportunities for international artists to engage with Curaçao’s local art community and to collaborate with emerging local creators.
The benefit evening and ongoing collaborations reflect a renewed commitment to preserving cultural heritage while fostering artistic exchange, ensuring that the Curaçaosch Museum remains a vibrant cultural landmark for generations to come.
