‘Kaminata Yu i Tata’ Walk Returns to Celebrate Fatherhood and Family Bonds

WILLEMSTAD - On Sunday, November 16, Curaçao will once again host the ‘Kaminata Yu i Tata’ (Child and Father Walk), an annual march organized by the Child First Foundation to celebrate the importance of fatherhood and parental involvement.

The walk will begin at 6:00 a.m. at the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) in Otrobanda, where board member Ryan de Jongh will officially signal the start of the event. Participants will follow a scenic route across the iconic bridges of Willemstad, symbolizing the connections and bonds that unite fathers and children. Along the route, several local artists will present creative contributions inspired by the event’s message of family unity.

Child First Foundation’s mission is to promote the active and positive presence of fathers in their children’s lives. According to the organization, a caring and engaged father figure significantly increases the likelihood that children will grow into confident, resilient, and successful global citizens.

The event is open to everyone—fathers, mothers, family members, and supporters—who wish to walk in solidarity and send a powerful message affirming that every child has the right to a loving and involved father figure.

Participation costs XCG 15 for children and XCG 25 for adults, which includes a bracelet, water, fruit, and pan dushi (sweet bread). Bracelets are available at 24 uur Uit de Muur in Pompstation Sta. Maria and De Jongh’s Sporthuis in Saliña.

All proceeds from the walk will go directly to Child First Foundation’s programs and activities, which aim to raise awareness about children’s fundamental right to an active relationship with their fathers, particularly in situations where parents live apart.
