Registration and Payment Process for Carnival 2026 Precario Rights Announced

WILLEMSTAD - Preparations for Curaçao’s 2026 Carnival season are officially underway. Authorities have digitally mapped all plots along the carnival route, and all users are now required to register and pay for the derecho di precario (temporary commercial use fee). This fee applies to stands, scaffolding, and all other commercial structures placed along the parade route.

The registration and payment period for current precarious rights holders (Sections A through D) will run from November 3 to December 19, 2025, following this schedule:

Section, Dates, Route Segment

Only after full payment is made will participants receive the official Ministerial Decree (“MB”). Without this document, use of the assigned plot will not be permitted.

Those wishing to apply for a new plot will be placed on a waiting list. Registration for this group will take place from December 22, 2025, to January 2, 2026. Internal evaluations will occur between January 5 and 16, followed by the payment period from January 19 to 30, 2026.

Marking of sections will take place from January 21 to 27, 2026, while the construction of stalls and stands will only be allowed starting January 31, 2026, at 00:00 a.m. All dismantling and cleanup must be completed by February 22, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.

The Precario Rights Team stresses that compliance with all regulations is essential. Any construction outside designated boundaries, unauthorized markings, or use of unsafe structures will result in immediate removal and may lead to exclusion from future Carnival participation.
