2BAYS Marks One Year of Growth and Sustainable Progress in Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – This month marks one year since 2BAYS established its operations on Curaçao, a milestone the company describes as one of adventure, impact, and growth. CEO Sander Rijsdijk reflected on the journey, highlighting both the warm welcome he and his family received on the island and the significant strides made by the 2BAYS team over the past year.

“From the very first moment, we felt truly welcome, both on the island and within the 2BAYS team,” Rijsdijk said. “The professionalism and dedication of everyone quickly made Curaçao feel like home. And best of all, together we have achieved so much in just one year.”

In its first year, 2BAYS advanced a broad range of projects aimed at strengthening Curaçao’s role as a hub for sustainable energy, innovation, and economic resilience. Among the highlights was the signing of a contract with Energis for the use of Jetty 10, paving the way for expanded biofuel production in the Schottegat area. The initiative is seen as an important step toward advancing circular activities and positioning Curaçao as a regional leader in renewable energy.

The company also moved forward with plans alongside Curoil to consolidate fuel operations at the Bleinheim site in Emmastad, a project designed to boost efficiency and streamline logistics. With Aqualectra, preparations are underway for a new power plant and solar park in Emmastad, which will deliver sustainable electricity to the island and future customers.

Food security is also on the agenda, with stakeholders working alongside 2BAYS to assess the feasibility of high-tech food farming at the Eco-Park. Meanwhile, at the Van Leer site, multiple development opportunities are being explored, and at Bullenbaai Jetty 6, preparations are in place to expand lay-by and maintenance services for the growing offshore vessel market.

“These diverse initiatives share a common purpose: creating value for Curaçao and strengthening the island’s sustainable and economic foundations,” Rijsdijk noted. “I am proud to contribute to this mission, and I look forward with confidence and energy to another year full of opportunities, challenges, and results.”

With its focus on sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, and economic diversification, 2BAYS has quickly established itself as a key player in Curaçao’s future development, with plans to build on the momentum of its first successful year.
