WILLEMSTAD, ORANJESTAD - The Aruba Fair Trade Authority (AFTA) and the Regulatory Authority of Curaçao (RAC) have signed a formal cooperation protocol aimed at strengthening joint oversight of the electricity and water sectors on both islands.

Through this agreement, the two regulatory bodies commit to sharing knowledge, information, and technical expertise to enhance the quality and effectiveness of supervision. The protocol also includes provisions for joint training sessions, staff exchanges, and regular consultation meetings to promote professional development and coordination between the institutions.

Strengthening Regional Cooperation

The initiative aligns with both authorities’ broader goal of promoting regional collaboration and contributing to sustainable economic development within the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Curt Belfor, CEO of the Regulatory Authority of Curaçao, underscored the importance of mutual support in tackling sector challenges:

“By sharing experiences and expertise, we can respond more effectively to the evolving dynamics of the energy and utilities sectors.”

Meanwhile, Drs. Roly Sint JagoChairman of the Board of AFTA, highlighted the agreement as an opportunity to build stronger institutional ties:
