Caribbean Science Map Calls on Researchers Linked to the Islands

WILLEMSTAD – Researchers with ties to the Caribbean islands of the Kingdom of the Netherlands are invited to join the Caribbean Science Map, a growing network aimed at connecting researchers and institutions across the region.

The initiative welcomes participation from academics and professionals linked to Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, St. Maarten, St. Eustatius, and Saba. This includes those engaged in internships, teaching, fieldwork, or members of the Caribbean research diaspora.

Building a Network of Collaboration

The project is being developed by researcher Steffen van Heijningen and a colleague, with the goal of creating a comprehensive overview of researchers, institutions, and collaborations across the six islands (ABCSSS).

Supported by the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) through its Knowledge Function Kingdom Relations, the Caribbean Science Map aims to strengthen policymaking, foster closer ties within the Kingdom, and provide greater visibility into the Caribbean research landscape.

How to Participate

Interested researchers can take part by completing a survey available at: https://lnkd.in/erTn4n8D.  Participants are also encouraged to share the call with their networks and tag colleagues or institutions that should be included in the initiative.

With its emphasis on collaboration and knowledge exchange, the Caribbean Science Map hopes to become a valuable tool in connecting expertise and supporting innovation throughout the region.
