Coast Guard Rescues Three Fishermen off Santa Martha

WILLEMSTAD – On Sunday afternoon, September 28, the Maritime Operations Center (MOC) of the Coast Guard received an emergency call reporting a situation at sea requiring immediate assistance.

From the shore near Santa Martha, a witness spotted three men in distress clinging to their capsized fishing boat. The individuals were identified as local fishermen who had been thrown into the water when their vessel overturned.

A Coast Guard helicopter crew was immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they quickly located the fishermen and hoisted them safely out of the water. The men were flown directly to Hato, where ambulance staff were on standby. They were then transported to the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) for further medical evaluation and treatment.

The Coast Guard emphasized the importance of swift reporting by witnesses in such emergencies, which allowed for the successful and timely rescue of the fishermen.
