Curaçao Beverage Bottling Company Exports 700,000 Plastic Bottles for Recycling

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao Beverage Bottling Company (CBBC), the local bottler of Coca-Cola and other beverages, has taken another major step toward a circular economy. This week, a container holding more than 16 tons of collected plastic bottles — equivalent to about 700,000 bottles — was exported for processing and reuse. The bottles were collected by the recycling organization Green Force.

This marks the second shipment of the year, following an earlier export in March, fully financed by CBBC. With these investments, the company is actively contributing to reducing waste, creating a cleaner Curaçao, and supporting a circular economy in which materials are reused rather than discarded.

Local Collection Points

Consumers play a vital role in this process. CBBC is calling on residents to deliver their empty plastic bottles and cans to official collection points, including Best Buy Supermarket, Bon Bini Supermarket, Centrum Supermarket Piscadera, Esperamos Supermarket, Mangusa Hypermarket, Sambil Shopping Center, and Van den Tweel Supermarket ZeelandiaAdditional smaller collection sites can also be found via the sustainability map: https://bit.ly/CuracaoSustainabilityMap.

“As a local bottler, we feel responsible for going beyond just producing our beverages. By actively investing in recycling and education, we contribute to a more sustainable Curaçao,” said Myrthe George-Verhulst, Manager of Marketing, Public Affairs, Communication & Sustainability at CBBC. “But we cannot do this alone. The success of recycling starts with every consumer who returns their bottles. Together, we give plastic a second life and preserve our island for future generations.”
