Curaçao-Born Boxer Raekwon Baas Celebrates Triumphant Return to the Ring in the Netherlands

WILLEMSTAD, ZWARTEWAAL - Curaçao-born boxer Raekwon Baas made a strong comeback to competitive boxing on Saturday, October 4, 2025, with an impressive victory in the Netherlands. After a long break due to injury, surgery, and rehabilitation, Baas proved he is back in top form.

Competing at a boxing gala organized by Boxing Godschalk in Sporthal De Gaffelaar in Zwartewaal, Baas — representing FitBoyz010 — defeated Jochem Zuijdgeest of RBV Van ’t Hof after three intense three-minute rounds in the 70–75 kg weight class.

A Meaningful Comeback

Baas’ father, Edwin Baas, who also serves as the chairman of CuraBox, said the victory was not only a great sporting achievement but also a personal milestone. “The win is beautiful and important,” he said, “but what matters even more is that Raekwon’s body has successfully endured this test after everything he’s been through.”

Trainer Rodney Ernst praised Raekwon’s performance and confirmed that the Curaçaoan boxer is now preparing for an international tournament in Denmark in early November, followed by the Dutch National Championships (NK), which will take place from November 22 to 30.

With this victory, Raekwon Baas reestablishes himself as one of Curaçao’s most promising boxing talents on the international stage.
