Curaçao Draws 1–1 Against Trinidad and Tobago, Keeps World Cup Hopes Alive

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao secured an important point in its bid to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after drawing 1–1 against Trinidad and Tobago on home soil. The result means Dick Advocaat’s team still has its fate in its own hands in Group B of the CONCACAF qualifiers.

Kenji Gorré gave Curaçao the lead before halftime, sending the home fans at the Ergilio Hato Stadium into celebration. However, in the second half, Tyrese Spicer equalized for Trinidad and Tobago, leveling the score at 1–1.

The decisive matches in the third round of the CONCACAF qualification will take place in November. Curaçao will face two crucial away games next month—against Bermuda on November 13 and Jamaica on November 18.

Only the winner of each group advances directly to the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The second-placed team will still have a chance to qualify through the playoffs.

Curaçao has never before qualified for a World Cup, but with two games left to play, the dream remains very much alive.
