Curaçao Eyes Hansen and Obispo to Strengthen Squad for World Cup Qualifiers

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao is working to strengthen its national team for the ongoing World Cup qualification campaign and is hoping to add Sontje Hansen and Armando Obispo to the squad. Head coach Dick Advocaat is attempting to convince both players, who previously represented Dutch youth teams, to commit their international careers to Curaçao.

According to reports, Hansen remains undecided, while Obispo has so far shown no interest.

In recent months, Curaçao has already secured several new players, including Riechedly BazoerShurandy Sambo, and Tyrese Noslin. Advocaat believes the squad is improving but acknowledges there is still progress to be made. “Against Trinidad and Tobago, we were second-best in the second half and could easily have lost,” he admitted.

The coach emphasized that while reinforcements are welcome, loyalty to long-serving players remains a priority. “You don’t abandon the ones who have been fully committed for years,” he said.

With a mix of new talent and dedicated veterans, Advocaat hopes to guide Curaçao to its first-ever World Cup appearance. The road is long, but every addition could make a crucial difference.
