Curaçao International Airport Running on Generators Amid Island-Wide Blackout

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao International Airport has switched to backup generators in response to the large-scale power outage currently affecting the island. The airport announced that the move is aimed at ensuring the safety of travelers and visitors.

All scheduled flights are proceeding as planned. However, the airport advises passengers that in the event of any delays, they should contact their airline directly for the latest information.

As part of precautionary measures, the airport has turned off air conditioning in the terminal building to prevent overloading the generators.

The blackout, which began early Wednesday morning, has disrupted daily life across Curaçao. Utility provider Aqualectra has started the restoration process but warns that the situation remains fragile.
