Curaçao Invited to Celebrate Traditional Cultural Fest on Willibrordus Day

WILLEMSTAD - The people of Curaçao are warmly invited to celebrate Willibrordus Day on Sunday, November 9, with a full day of traditional and cultural festivities. The celebration will begin at 6:30 a.m. and continue until late in the evening, featuring a wide variety of activities including a Holy Mass, sports competitions, a tribute to Chin Behilia, musical entertainment, cultural performances, local art, Curaçaoan cuisine, and much more.

Part of the event will take place on the parking grounds of the historic Willibrordus Church, while other activities will be hosted at the sports complex next to Williwood. All funds raised during the celebration will go toward the restoration of the historic Willibrordus Church.

The church, completed in 1888, has undergone several maintenance works over the years. However, saltpeter and corrosion have gradually caused significant deterioration to the building’s structure. For this reason, the traditional Willibrordus Day festivities this year will serve as a fundraising initiative to help preserve this important heritage site.

Everyone can contribute to this cause by purchasing a Willibrordus Day T-shirt for ANG 25. With the purchase, participants can also join the charity walk, receive a voucher for Williwood’s BBQ valued at ANG 25, or a Bon Kuné card of the same value. Donations can also be made directly during the Radio Hoyer Radiothon on the day of the event.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Hubert Scherptong, Grupo Samango, DJ Shine, Dessert Band, La Perfecta, One Flavaz, and other local artists. The celebration will also include children’s activities, local food, and various stands selling handmade crafts and sweet treats.

Those interested in setting up a booth to sell local food, art, or other products can contact the Fundashon Desaroyo Willibrordus at 515-7010.

Donations during the Radiothon can be made directly to the Willibrordus Church account at MCB (#34522908). T-shirts are available at SelikorWilliwoodPompstation Sta. Maria, and 24 uit de muur. For BBQ or Bon Kuné cards and to register for the charity walk, residents can call 515-7010 or make payment to the Fundashon Desaroyo St. Willibrordus account at RBC (#8000009000265193).

Willibrordus Day is made possible thanks to the generous support of its main sponsors: Williwood, 2BAYS Curaçao, AliansaSelikor, Karakter, Coral Estate, Pompstation Sta. Maria, Carmabi, Lake View Residence, AqualectraCuroil, and The Jingle Planet.

Fundashon Desaroyo Willibrordus and all sponsors invite the entire Curaçao community to come together on November 9 to celebrate traditional culture and support a meaningful cause. Families are encouraged to join the festivities and enjoy a day of unity, culture, and community spirit.
